PORT ANGELES – In response to an alarming surge in Covid-19 cases in Clallam County, Olympic Medical Center has created a faster, easier way to get tested for the virus.

A new drive-up site is now open daily from 9am to 4:30pm. Originally scheduled to open on August 24, OMC leadership decided to make the leap a week early.

For now, the site is serving a very specific group of people: those who have had a known exposure to the virus but are not experiencing any symptoms. There is no charge to the patient for the test, but OMC does bill insurance companies, and HRSA covers part of the cost for those that don’t have insurance.

Anyone with symptoms should talk to their doctor or go to the Walk-in Clinic or emergency department.

You’ll find the drive-through test site in the OMC parking lot in Port Angeles just west of Caroline Street.
