PORT ANGELES – A young Port Angeles couple were arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies Friday on suspicion of stealing a puppy from an unlocked car at the Walmart in Port Angeles.
The puppy’s owner reported the dog was taken while she was in the store for about 20 minutes. The loss was particularly distressing because Paco, as he’s called, is dependent on insulin.
Soon after, Deputy Mark Titterness recovered surveillance video from store security that showed a man and woman drive up next to the car and steal Paco.
Video showed that the couple was driving a gold Saturn associated with 20-year-old Destiny Manlove.
Late Friday night, officers with the Port Angeles Police Department located Manlove and 21-year-old Austin Mann, also of Port Angeles, living in Manlove’s car in the parking lot of the downtown Safeway.
Pending charges for Manlove and Mann include Vehicle Prowl in the Second Degree and Taking, Concealing, Injuring, and/or Killing of a Pet Animal.
