PORT ANGELES – The deceased male found on Highway 112 on Friday, July 31st near Joyce has been identified by his fingerprints as a 30-year-old man from Kent. At the request of the family we have removed his name from our story.

The man was reported as a missing person to the Kent Police, as he had not been seen by his friends or family since about July 20th. It is unknown why he was on the Olympic Peninsula or why he took his own life.

Yesterday, the King County Medical Examiner’s autopsy determined the cause and manner of death to be suicide from a gunshot wound to the head.

Sgt. John Keegan from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office says deputies did discover a firearm with the man’s body, and a bullet consistent with the firearm was located a short distance away during the evidence search.

The body was originally discovered in tall grass by a pedestrian.
