PORT ANGELES – Three restored Port Angeles murals will soon be recognized with a dedication ceremony sponsored by The Nor’wester Rotary Club and the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe.

The three murals titled, “Sluicing the Hogback”, “MV Kalakala”, and “Ennis Creek”, have received some paint touch up and sealing to keep them preserved for future generations.

As part of this restoration project, an additional set of informative signs are going up at each mural site. Rotary member John Brewer spoke with us about how these new signs tie into the murals.

“We have now restored the murals. We have new signs there that have a lot more explanation about what the murals show. The signs also have scan codes that you can take your phone and focus on it and you can hear various greetings and the Klallam language. And also the second code will take you actually to a web page that has explanations about all the murals in Port Angeles. It’s called ‘The Port Angeles Art Mural Trail’, you can actually focus on that and find out the background and history of the various murals and what they show.”

An exact date for the dedication ceremony is not known but Brewer said that it will likely take place within the first two weeks of March.

These three murals represent three of the twelve murals that are part of the Port Angeles Art Mural Trail.
