Sequim – Deon Kapetan has been named this year’s Sequim Citizen of the Year.
At a meeting of the Sequim-Dungness Valley Chamber of Commerce Tuesday, Kapetan was announced as the winner.
Deon Kapetan took over as the Director of the Sequim Irrigation Festival in 2011. Under her watch, the Irrigation Festival received the King-TV’s “Best Washington Event” in 2014.
She serves as Vice President for the Sequim Food Bank and Treasurer for the Jeffrey Katerina Foundation.
Crystal Stout and Robin Bookter were the other nominees for the award this year.
A committee made up of past Citizen of the Year recipients chose the finalists and winners of the award.
