SEQUIM — Organizers of the first-ever Sequim Sunshine Festival, to be held on March 6 and 7, have just announced they’ve scheduled a choreographed illuminated drone show for Saturday the 7th at 6:45 p.m. at Carrie Blake Park.

The City of Sequim has contracted with Firefly Drone Shows from Waterford, Michigan to provide a 100-drone, 15-minute presentation.

The show will launch from the Blake Tile and Stone property just south of the park. A safety zone around the launch area, as required by the FAA, will be established prior to the event.

They say the show will take place at about 400 feet above the ground and is best viewed from a distance. Viewers are encouraged to watch from Carrie Blake Park or from the hills south of the park.

There’s a pre-party with live music from Just in Tyme starting at 5:00 p.m. by the Park’s picnic shelter, a special light exhibit, a wine garden, a food truck, and games.

Also just announced: Registration is now open for the Sequim Sunshine Festival’s Sun Fun Color Run. That’s also on Saturday, March 7, starting at 10:00 a.m.

The run begins and ends at Carrie Blake Park and has a 1K and a 5K option with color stations along the course. Registration includes a Sun Fun Color Run T-shirt, race bib, finisher medal, sunglasses, and a starting line color blast bag.

Register now for the best price, because fees will increase on February 1. Event space is limited, and the event is expected to sell out.
