Hartford, Conn. — A restored World War II bomber that visited Port Angeles this summer crashed yesterday killing seven people.
The plane with 13 people aboard crashed and burned at Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Connecticut after encountering mechanical trouble on takeoff Wednesday.
Tori Boykin’s husband was on the plane when it went down. He’s recovering in the ICU after having surgery for a liver bleed. While many questions remain about how the crash happened Tori says all she knows at this point is that the plane lost power while 800 feet in the air:

There was 13 people involved and we’re trying to figure out still if he was one of the three men in the front or if he was in the back of the plane.
The four-engine, propeller-driven B-17 bomber slammed into a maintenance building.
The B-17, which belonged to the Collings Foundation, was part of a tour that came to Port Angeles in June. People were offered ground tours and rides on the plane. It had been in PA in past years as well as part of the bi-annual tour stop here.
