PORT ANGELES — Investigators say a woman and three young children are unaccounted for after a fatal fire Saturday morning in west Port Angeles
They have also arrested a man in connection with the case.
Late Saturday night, 34-year-old Matthew Timothy Wetherington was found camped in a wooded area. He was arrested and booked into the Clallam County jail. He is believed to have lived in the trailier where four other people are also unaccounted for.
Although police say they can’t yet positively identify victims, 34-year-old Valerie Kambeitz, 9-year-old Lilly Kambeitz, 6-year-old, Emma Kambeitz and 5-year-old Jayden Kambeitz have not been seen since the fire.
Police say no other people are being sought in connection with the fire.
Port Angeles Fire Department was called to the fire about 2:30 Saturday morning at the Welcome Inn Trailer Park along Highway 101 in the Fairmount area. Two trailers and cars burned in the fire.
In addition to local authorities, the State Patrol Crime lab and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are involved in the investigation.
