PORT ANGELES – A Sequim man was killed when he crashed his pickup early Friday morning on Highway 101 east of Port Angeles.

40-year-old William Ferdig was pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Patrol says the 2000 Ford Ranger pickup he was driving was eastbound on Highway 101 four miles east of Port Angeles. The pickup left the road to the left and entered the grass median. Ferdig overcorrected back onto the highway and rolled the vehicle. The pickup slid across both eastbound lanes and came to rest on its tires.

Ferdig was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck.

The State Patrol believes impairment was involved.
