CLALLAM COUNTY – The Clallam County Economic Development Corporation has a new CEO. Colleen McAleer, who is also the District 1 Port of Port Angeles Commissioner, will officially take on her new role starting Thursday.

Stepping down as interim CEO is EDC Board Chairman Kelly Fox.

The EDC has been without a permanent executive director since last spring.

Fox, who is moving out of the area, will be replaced as board chair by Carolyn St. James, who is a grant writer for the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe.

Another change at the EDC is that Steve Burke, also a Port of Port Angeles commissioner, will vacate his position on the board.

Because Burke was on the EDC Board representing the William Shore Pool and not the port, Burke says he’s recommending that Cherie Kidd, President of the pool’s Board of Commissioners, take his place. That will have to be cleared by the EDC’s Board before it’s official.
