VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say they’ve stopped the search for a rafter who went missing while floating down the Washougal River.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said they found a woman submerged up to her neck and screaming for help on Saturday around 8:15 p.m. KOIN reports she was pinned by her legs and the water was moving rapidly. She was rescued after a two-hour operation but was unconscious and taken to a hospital.
At 5 a.m. on Sunday, she regained consciousness and told officers that she had been floating with a 30-year-old man.
They floated in separate inner-tubes and were both swept into fast moving currents. They both fell off and she became trapped by debris and rocks.
The Clark County sheriff’s office said they found the man’s raft, but he hasn’t been located.
