Muckleshoot Casino announces 18-story hotel addition

AUBURN, Wash. – The Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn just announced it’s adding an 18-story, 400-room luxury hotel.

Slated to open in 2021, the hotel will include views of Mount Rainier and the Olympics and a rooftop fine-dining restaurant.

The hotel is part of an expansion already underway at the casino.

According to a news release, the first phase of the project will add a 20,000-square-foot events center, three fast-casual dining destinations, a high-energy bar, and more.

The first phase of the expansion is expected to be completed in spring 2020.

Police in Tenino, south of Olympia, have been pursuing a pair of suspects from Thurston County in connection with a prescription pill crime spree covering the South Puget Sound.

They say Terra Buraas and Louis Shipley, both in their 40’s, forged more than 50 stolen prescriptions and hit pharmacies up and down the I-5 corridor. Shipley turned himself in to police Wednesday night. Buraas is still on the run.

Police say the couple stole a ream of prescription paper, around 500,000 dosage forms, from a doctor’s office and have been forging them for oxycodone pills, which they then sell.

They’ve been making big money committing the crime, potentially millions of dollars.
