SKAGIT COUNTY – A body was recovered from the Skagit River in Mount Vernon Wednesday morning.
At about 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a possible body floating near the river bank north of the State Route 536 Bridge.
Deputies tried were unable to get to the location of the body using a boat because of logs and debris in the water, so swift-water rescue crews were called in and recovered the body.
Police said it is too early to say whether the death is suspicious and investigators are reviewing missing person cases.
The Skagit County Coroner’s Office will determine the identification, as well as cause and manner of death.
