SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities say a Washington state man hired two people to kill his ex-wife, but instead they killed the woman’s sister who had been staying at her home.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 17-year-old Spokane woman and a 20 year-old Tacoma man in the September 2017 death of 24-year-old Alisha Canales-McGuire in Everett.

According to court documents, investigators say 31-year-old Kevin Lewis had agreed to pay the two suspects $2,400 for the killing.

The two suspects who authorities did not name were arrested on charges of first-degree aggravated murder with a firearm and criminal conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Lewis is currently serving a more than three year prison sentence for assault. Authorities say he is also facing murder charges.
