VICTORIA, B.C. – On Sunday, June 2, baseball fans will have a chance to see something that may be a first in collegiate baseball history: a Cuban team playing an American team. And that American team is our own Port Angeles Lefties.
Wilson’s Group Stadium in Victoria, British Columbia will host a double-header that starts with the Lefties against Union de Reyes of Cuba. Following that game, the Cubans will play the Victoria HarbourCats.
Lefties owner Matt Acker says he’s seen this team play and fans are in for some really good baseball.
Getting to the game from here has been made easy by Black Ball Ferry Lines, who have set up a package offering aboard the Coho ferry for those wanting to make a day of it. The game starts at 1:00, and fans can turn around and be home that night.
