PORT ANGELES – National Volunteer Week kicks off this coming Sunday, April 7 and goes through Saturday the 13th, and we can think of no better way to celebrate volunteerism than to highlight the work of the late Betty White of Port Angeles.

Betty, who passed away January 12, started volunteering for Puget Sound Blood Center over 20 years ago, long before they changed the name to Bloodworks Northwest.

Her daughter Nancy White says, for Betty, it was all about helping others to give blood and, ultimately, saving lives.

In honor of her many years of service, Bloodworks Northwest is hosting The Betty White Memorial Blood Drive in Port Angeles this coming Saturday, April 6th at the Port Angeles Library from 10am – 2pm.
