SEQUIM – The U.S. Small Business Administration is in Sequim this week, reaching out to small business owners, and those who would like to be, to get the word out about resources most area entrepreneurs don’t know about but should. It’s part of the Rural Strong Washington Initiative, created to spur economic development in Sequim and other Coastal Washington communities.

District Director Kerrie Hurd and Sequim Mayor Dennis Smith met with local economic development partners Wednesday and will visit local small businesses Thursday.

On Friday, there will be a Small Business Town Hall from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Sequim Civic Center. They’ll talk about all the no-cost and low-cost local resources available from the SBA, City of Sequim and other local partners. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions of business experts and provide feedback on burdensome regulations to the SBA regional advocate.

Then at 10:30 Friday they’ll present a program called Grow Your Business Internationally, also in the Civic Center. It’s described as an info session that will take manufacturers, makers and agribusinesses through the process of exporting, and the resources available to help each step of the way.

Anyone interested in starting or growing their small business can register for the events at tinyurl.com/2019Sequim.
