PORT ANGELES – The Wings of Freedom aircraft tour is coming back to Fairchild International Airport for the last 3 days of Spring in June, and it promises to be better than ever.
For the ninth time in 18 years, local aviator Alan Barnard is organizing this bit of traveling history that he says has some important lessons to teach.
This year’s event will feature more World War II aircraft than we’ve seen in the past. For the first time, 5 planes will be flown in for the show. You’ll see the bombers: The B-17, B-24 and B-25. You’ll also see two fighters this year: The P-51 Mustang and, for the first time, the P-40 Warhawk, with its signature shark-like teeth painted under the nose.
The Wings of Freedom is happening Wednesday, June 19 through Friday the 21st at Fairchild Int’l Airport.
But that’s not the end of it. The next day, Saturday June 22, is Airport Appreciation Day and Fly-In, which Airport Development Manager Dan Gase says has been a long time coming.
Wings of Freedom, sponsored by The Collings Foundation, and Airport Appreciation Day, starting June 19.
