Cowlitz County, WA – Several counties in Southwest Washington issued burn bans Wednesday after firefighters battled dozens of brush fires.
In Cowlitz County near Kelso, State fire assistance has been mobilized to support local firefighters in what’s being called the North Maple Fire.
The fire is burning in timber and brush and is a threat to homes. It was estimated at 40 acres and growing as of 8:30 this morning.
Crews also battled a wind-driven fire near Longview.
Marion, Clackamas, Linn, Wahkiakum and Cowlitz counties issued burn bans Wednesday at least in part because of warmer-than-normal temperatures and winds throughout the region.
