PORT ANGELES – A house caught fire near R-Corner along Highway 101 this morning.
No one was home at the time, but firefighters were able to resuscitate a cat found inside the home.
Fire District Three was called to the house on the north side of the highway about eight Thursday morning. A room inside the house was on fire and flames were spreading inside. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
In looking for more hot spots, they found the family cat. The cat was reportedly sluggish, so firefighters gave it oxygen to resuscitate.
The fire activity forced a partial closure of Highway 101 in the area.
The cause and damage estimate have not been determined.
