PORT ANGELES – Snow has piled up on the north Olympic Peninsula. More than half a foot of snow has been reported even at sea level in areas from Neah Bay to Port Townsend.

The snow began accumulating yesterday afternoon. Steady snow overnight added to the totals this morning.

Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend all cancelled schools on Monday. Queen of Angels and Olympic Christian school also shut down due to the weather.

Forecasters say snow will taper off through Monday. But it will remain very cold for the rest of the week. Highs the next few days will barely get above freezing and lows will be in the twenties. Skies will clear by Tuesday and Wednesday. But get ready for more snow on the way at the end of the week.
