broken-cables

SEQUIM – An errant cut of a fiber line knocked out internet services for thousands of north Olympic Peninsula residents.

A main line that provides connectivity for both Olypen and Wave broadband was reportedly severed by a crew not associated with either broadband company working near Carrie Blake Park in Sequim about 10:40 yesterday morning.

That knocked out data services for about five hours as crews scrambled to repair line. Olypen was actually able to maintain some of the local connectivity despite the loss of the main line.

Due to many people using voice-over-internet phone systems, a lot of phone systems were also affected by the outage.
