SEQUIM – A home owner with a gun detained an alleged burglar at his property yesterday.

38-year-old Shane Lowe was arrested for burglary 2nd degree and attempted theft 2nd degree after sheriff’s deputies arrived.

About 5 pm yesterday, deputies were called to a property on Highway 101 near Sherbourne Road on an alarm.  While enroute, dispatch said the home owners had arrived and had the suspect at gunpoint.

Home owners said there was an alarm there the day before. They found a window to one of their shops open. When the alarm went off again yesterday, the home owners responded with a pistol and found Lowe next to one of the shops standing next to a pull cart.

Lowe took off.  One of the home owners fired his pistol into the ground telling him to stop. He did. The home owners then detained him until deputies arrived.

Deputies say items in the cart that Lowe was standing next to had been stolen from two different shops on the home owner’s property. The cart had been pulled down a trail through the grass from the shops towards where Lowe’s vehicle was parked.

Lowe was book in to the jail on burglary and theft charges.
