WALLA WALLA, WA (AP) — Authorities say five white-tailed deer were poached near the Wooten Wildlife Area in southeastern Washington.
A person found the deer partially butchered at a campground in the wildlife area Tuesday and contacted Fish and Wildlife police.
Authorities say the deer appeared to have been shot Monday or Tuesday.
The deer were then taken to the campground to be butchered. Only the backstraps and hindquarters were taken.
Authorities are asking those with information on the poaching to contact Fish and Wildlife.
