PORT ANGELES – The 100-foot tall Sequoia at Lions Park in Port Angeles was cut down this morning. There was one arrest as a result, and the park is officially closed with the tree lying in place unprocessed.

After much opposition and numerous public meetings, Parks Director Corey Delikat says it was time to get it done.

After the tree was down, three people arrived to protest the cutting. Police Sgt. Josh Powless says one of the protesters became so unruly he had to arrest her.
