OLYMPIA – Clallam County’s unemployment rate dipped a tenth of a percent last month.
According to state figures, the county had an unemployment rate of 5.6 percent. That’s down from July’s 5.7 percent. It’s almost a full percentage lower than last August.
But the number of people in the local workforce has shrunk by about 400 since last year. The number of actually employed workers is about 100 fewer than last year at this time.
Washington State’s unemployment rate is at 4.1 percent, which is the lowest since the 1970’s.
