SEQUIM – The 7,000 residents of the city of Sequim pay around $10 each annually to support the city’s Human Services programs, but not all of those funds go to people who actually live in the city. In fact, more than two-thirds of east Clallam County’s 30,000 or so residents live outside of Sequim.
City officials have a growing concern that its residents are not getting the maximum benefit for those services that they’re funding, and plan to take up the issue at a joint meeting with Clallam County officials on Monday the 25TH.
That’s city manager Charlie Bush, who says he’s had a staff team working on revising their human services funding system for about a year and a half, at the council’s request.
That joint meeting with Clallam County is at 5:30 PM on Monday the 25TH in Sequim’s Council Chambers just ahead of the regular City Council meeting.
It’ll be a busy meeting, as they’ll also be discussing renegotiating their contract with the County’s court system (see our article on June 13).
