PORT ANGELES – A Port Angeles resident called police after finding a plastic sack of mail last Friday in Crown Park on West 4th Street.

There were 123 pieces of mail, none of it junk mail, with addresses from Sequim, Port Angeles, and Clallam County. Only one piece of mail had been opened, a greeting card that contained a check, which was still in the card.

Only one piece of mail was from the city of Port Angeles. The rest of the mail was turned over to the Sequim Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office, who will return it to the intended parties. Based on the dates of the mail, it is believed most of the mail was taken from mailboxes around the first of May.
