SEQUIM — It looks like warm weather has a downside. The Kid’s Fishing Day, scheduled for this coming Saturday May 19TH has been cancelled because the water in the pond is too warm.

The North Olympic Peninsula Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers made the decision on Monday when they discovered that temperatures in the Water Reclamation Pond at Carrie Blake Park were unsafe for the trout. A test plant of a limited number of fish was made Monday, and a number of fish were lost due to high water temperatures. With the weather forecast showing warm weather through the end of the week, there was a concern about losing most of the fish if they were to fully stock the pond.

The Puget Sound Anglers are hoping to reschedule the event

in September or October after water in the pond cools down.
