PORT ANGELES — Make it 2-0 Port Angeles over Sequim during Rivalry Week as the Roughriders swim team defeated the Wolves 108-61.

The Roughriders’ state-ranked 200 medley relay team, featuring Brooke St. Luise, Lizzy Shaw, Amayah Nelson, and Danika Asgeirsson, took first place. In the 200 freestyle relay, Danika Asgeirsson, Brooke St. Luise, Lizzy Shaw, and Lynzee Reid secured the win.

Individual victories for Port Angeles included:

  • Brooke St. Luise in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke
  • Danika Asgeirsson in the 100 freestyle
  • Lynzee Reid in the 200 freestyle
  • Amayah Nelson in the 500 freestyle

For Sequim, Ava Shinkle claimed first in the 400 freestyle relay (with teammates Keira Morey, Melia Nelson, and Annie Ellefson), the 200 individual medley, and the 100 butterfly. Annie Ellefson took first in the 100 breaststroke.

Port Angeles swept the 500 freestyle, with Amayah Nelson taking first, followed by Lynzee Reid and Enerson Dubois in second and third, respectively.

The Roughriders will host East Jefferson and Kingston at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow.

Tonight, the soccer rivalry continues with Port Angeles visiting Sequim for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Both teams are 2-2 in league play, trailing Bainbridge and North Kitsap (4-0) and third-place Kingston (3-1). Top goalkeepers Kalli Grove of Sequim and Kennedy Rognlien of Port Angeles will face off, with Sequim’s Raimey Brewer and Port Angeles’ Teanna Clark (a three-sport star with a hat trick already this season) leading the scoring threats.

The Roughriders’ #11, sophomore Morgan Politika, will be a tough matchup for the Wolves tonight in their heated soccer rivalry.

In volleyball action, Sequim is favored to win at home over Port Angeles. The Wolves are 3-1 in league play, while the Roughriders are 0-4. The match starts at 6:30 p.m.

In NWAC soccer news, the Peninsula Pirates women’s soccer team is ranked second in the nation, while the men are ranked fifth.
