PORT ANGELES — In NWAC soccer action, the nation’s 4th-ranked Peninsula Pirates women’s soccer team dominated Everett with a 6-0 victory. Shawna Larson scored twice, while Lauren Lases, Risa Nishida, Paige Johnson, and Elliana Barden each added a goal.

In the men’s game, the 5th-ranked Pirates held a 4-1 lead at halftime over Everett and secured a 4-3 win. Nil Grau scored two goals, with Ezrah Ochoa and Konrad Mueller each contributing one.

At the Olympic League Cross Country Jamboree in Kingston, Andre Campbell led the Roughriders, finishing 16th with a time of 11:36. For the Roughrider girls, Leia Larson placed 7th with a time of 13:40, and Miriam Cobb finished 14th at 14:19.

At the middle school cross-country meet on the 1.5-mile track at Fort Worden, Jay Leiberman of Stevens took 1st place with a time of 9:20, while Nolan Keck finished 2nd at 9:39. Eleanor Jones of Sequim won the girls’ race with a time of 9:27, and Amara Buggy of Sequim placed 3rd at 11:19. The Stevens boys finished 1st with 26 points, and the Sequim boys placed 3rd with 61 points.

In high school football action this Friday, the Port Angeles Roughriders (0-2) will host the North Mason Bulldogs (2-0) in their home and Olympic League opener. The Roughriders will start senior quarterback Blake Sohlberg, while junior Brayden Martin will be the backup. Junior QB Jude Wallace remains sidelined due to injury but is expected to return soon.

The Bulldogs, led by running back Caden Atencio, have been dominant this season. Atencio, a junior, has rushed 39 times for 277 yards (7.1 ypc) and six touchdowns. Quarterback Danner Jones, also a junior, has completed 15 of 21 passes for 221 yards and one touchdown.

Bulldog running back Caden Atencio will be a marked man by the Roughrider defense.

The game will be broadcast live on KONP Newsradio 1450 AM and streamed at myclallamcounty.com. The Firehouse Grill pre-game show begins at 6:00 p.m., featuring Roughrider seniors Conner Martin and Rylan Politika. Additional coverage includes “The Dustin Clark Show” and the “Enemy Coaches Show” with Bulldogs Head Coach John Fullington, a former WSU All-Pac-12 offensive lineman. The VIP halftime show will feature 6th-grader Skylar Burgett, Queen of the Port Angeles Junior Rodeo Association, showcasing her barrel racing skills with her 12-year-old horse, Jessi. Oly Archibald and Greg Thomas will provide the play-by-play.

In tennis, North Kitsap visits Port Angeles, and Sequim hosts Olympic, with both matches starting at 4:00 p.m. In soccer, Bainbridge travels to Sequim for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff, and Port Angeles hosts Olympic at 7:15 p.m.
