PORT ANGELES – A busy schedule of local high school sports is set for today and tomorrow.

In tennis action today, Port Angeles will face Olympic, and Sequim will play against Bainbridge. Both matches begin at 4:00 p.m.

In soccer, Port Angeles faces a tough game at Bainbridge, while Sequim is favored at North Mason. Both games kick off at 7:00 p.m.

In volleyball, Sequim takes on North Mason, and Port Angeles plays at Bainbridge. Both matches start at 6:30 p.m.

Tomorrow, the Roughrider swim team opens its season at home against Kingston, with a 3:00 p.m. start.

The Olympic League will host its Cross Country Jamboree at Kingston, starting at 5:00 p.m.

The Peninsula Pirates will host Youth Night tomorrow, with the Pirates taking on Everett. All youth soccer players, up to high school level, can attend for free. The women’s game kicks off the doubleheader at 5:00 p.m.

Former Roughrider and Olympic League Defensive Player of the Year Jason Hawes is not only starting at linebacker for the (2-0) Moorpark College Raiders but was also named Player of the Game in a 17-16 win over Palomar.

Hawes recorded 7 tackles, 1 sack, a fumble recovery, and forced a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Moorpark College is located in the football-rich Simi Valley, California.

Former Roughrider linebacker Jason Hawes, a 6’1″, 225-pound freshman, is starting for Moorpark College in Simi Valley, California.

Former Sequim Wolf Taryn Johnson is a Freshman for NCAA D2 Minnesota State.
