PORT ANGELES – At around 2:00 Saturday morning a Port Angeles Police Officer spotted a speeding vehicle westbound on Front Street near Penn Street.

The officer tried to stop the vehicle, but that resulted in a vehicle pursuit westbound on Front. The fleeing vehicle failed to negotiate a left turn from Front onto Albert, collided with a parked car and came to a stop.

The driver, 27-year-old Jordan Turner, was arrested for Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle and also booked for DUI/Alcohol and Knowingly Possessing Cocaine.

A semi-automatic 9mm pistol was recovered from the suspect vehicle.

Police are calling this case a good example of an arrest that could not have been made before June 6th when the latest version of Washington State’s pursuit law went into effect.
