SEQUIM – A woman was rescued from the bluffs north of Sequim after being injured while searching for her dog.

Clallam Fire District Three responded to the scene around 8:30 a.m. yesterday. Reports indicated the woman broke her ankle while looking for her dog, which had fallen off the bluff along the 100 block of Sea Bluff Lane near Monterra Drive in Agnew.

Crews rappelled down the bluff to reach her. The fire district’s utility task vehicle team then transported her to an ambulance provided by Olympic Ambulance.

The dog did not survive its fall over the bluff.
