It was a tough loss for the Port Angeles baseball team as the 7th-ranked Roughriders lost to the 8th-ranked North Kitsap Vikings 5-2 in a game that decided the Olympic League Championship. A 4-run 1st inning, and Viking Sophomore pitcher Dawson Anderson giving up just 3 hits were the differences in the game. Roughrider Senior right fielder Kaleb Mullen gave the Roughriders hope when, in the 5th inning with the bases loaded, he lined a double into left-center, scoring Ezra Townsend and Colton Romero to make the score 5-2. Sophomore Pitcher Brayden Martin did a nice job in relief of Colton Romero, giving up just one run. The Roughriders finished 2nd in the Olympic League with a 12-3 record and are now 16-5 overall. Tonight, the Roughriders get a great gift by playing in Historic Cheney Stadium, home of the Mariners AAA team, the Tacoma Rainiers. The Roughriders play 1A kings of Seattle, who are 11-6 and ranked 14th in the state. You can hear tonight’s game on Newsradio KONP and streaming at myclallamcounty.com. The Firehouse Grill pregame show starts at 5:45 with the first pitch at 6:00. Oly Archibald and John Hayden will have the play-by-play.
