In high school baseball action, Roughrider sophomore pitcher Brian Guttormson delivered a stellar performance, pitching to the tune of the old Simple Minds hit “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”, making it look effortless as he threw a 7-inning gem to secure a 5-3 victory over North Mason. It appears Guttormson is proving to be a worthy understudy to senior pitcher Colton Romero, who pitched 5 innings on Tuesday against the Bulldogs, striking out 10 and conceding just one run. Guttormson allowed only 2 hits, struck out 7, and issued no walks in his 7 innings on the mound.

The Roughrider offense provided just enough support for Guttormson to earn a hard-fought win against the scrappy Bulldog team. Left fielder Jordan Shumway wielded a hot bat, tallying 2 doubles, a single, and 2 runs scored. Right fielder Kaleb Mullen reached base 3 times, hitting a double and scoring a run. First baseman Rylan Politika contributed with a single and a run scored. Center fielder Nathan Basden continued his hitting streak with 2 singles and a run scored, while shortstop Alex Angevine reached base 3 times with 2 singles.
