PORT ANGELES — One person died in a boat fire in the Port Angeles Boat Haven parking lot.

Just before six Sunday morning, Port Angeles Fire Department was called to a 30-foot vessel on blocks and jacks burning in the east parking lot. 

After quickly extinguishing the fire, crews found a deceased victim inside. Another person, who had been in the boat, escaped without injury. Both reportedly were sleeping in the boat when the fire broke out.

The fire department and Port Angeles Police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

The names of the victims have not been released.
