CLALLAM COUNTY – It was a busy 48 hours for Clallam 2 Fire Rescue crews with fires burning 2 houses and an RV between Wednesday and Friday.
A Wednesday morning fire on Verns Lane in the Mt. Pleasant area started on a stovetop in the kitchen and quickly spread to the walls. By the time crews arrived windows were shattering from the intense heat, but firefighters were able to get the fire under control in a short time. No one was hurt but the house sustained significant damage.
Friday morning, just after midnight, an Elwha Valley resident reported seeing the fire from a distance and called 911. It turns out it was an RV on Hunt Road was burning and had spread to the adjacent garage.
Though the fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes, there was significant damage to the garage and the RV was completely destroyed. Thankfully, the primary residence only suffered light smoke damage. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
